The Trust is pleased to announce that Stobhillgate First School launched a consultation on 7th October to join the Three Rivers Learning Trust. This is a positive step in the further development of the Trust and we look forward to the consultation responses. If the proposal is supported then Stobhillgate would aim to join the Trust on the 1st April 2020. The consultation documents are available on the school website for anyone wishing to engage with the process. There will be a drop-in session which will be attended by the Stobhillgate Headteacher and Governors and representatives of The Three Rivers Learning Trust at 5.30pm in Stobhillgate First School on Tuesday 15th October.
The aim of this session is to hear views on the proposal and answer any questions. This consultation will close on Monday 4th November at 5pm.
On Tuesday 1st October we opened our doors to a range of local businesses as part of a mini careers fair for the children. Our whole school topic this term is ‘How to be a ….’ and the children are learning about a range of different jobs and careers, ways in to work and what having a job really means.
The children loved having the chance to meet and talk to different people, and were able to ‘have a go’ at the various instruments used in their workplace. We had representatives from Alnwick Garden, Northumberland National Parks, Landmark, as well as a civil engineer, farmer, pharmacist, joiner, florist, fireman, marine conservationist and many more.
‘What a fantastic idea to introduce the children to such a diverse range of career possibilities. Even at such a young age they can begin to dream about their futures, and it was really rewarding for me to be part of that’, Kirsty McKay, local author of children’s books.
Miss Flora Cann, Assistant Head Teacher, ‘Children were heard asking in depth questions, how many hours a day do you work? How much do you get paid? What is the worst part of the job? How did you become an author?’ and we really feel it has given them an insight into the world of work and a knowledge of a range of different jobs and careers available. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this possible for us to run’.
